in and out of a seashell autumn light

                                                     spring cleaning
                                                     the shelves
                                                     of boxed grudges

month end
the traffic cop settles
to everyone's bargain

                                   how much rain
                                   can a little cloud hold
                                   the overspill
                                   of resentment
                                   her only identity   

                                                                       the crows
                                                                       are vanishing
                                                                       at twilight
                                                                       my child stretches
                                                                       the end of play

                                                                                         slicing wind

                                                                                         the skylark alone

                                                                                         knows the pull

  

          looking

          for a river that is no more

          ancestral home

                                                               sunbirds peck

                                                               the tumbling river notes …

                                                               evening raga

                             an evening

                             of tangled thoughts . . .

                             through branches

                             even this rugged moon

                             looks tattered at the edges

handwoven sky
the thread-knots
on her tunic

a raindrop stretches 
into eternity

beetle drone . . .
the gleaming dome 
of Dad's coffin

traffic snarl -
I remember the song
of estuaries 

fading moon . . .

the head count ritual

of stolen children

blossom into periwinkles

heresy…
