Visual Poetry | Aparna Amte

At first it feels like betrayal,
That what you nurtured has fallen.
Helpless in action,
Sullen in despair
It was never meant for u to possess.

Through the starkness
You lay still
Waiting for the worst
With the last bit of the energy now drained
You know it is meant to now end

So focused on loss
You are unable to see
The inner works that are set in motion
The process is slow and quiet
Not visible to the naked eye

In time,  it is abundant again,
Just like the tree laden and lush
Now that hope and laughter
Sway free

You sometimes wonder what caused this spring
But just like the roots of the tree
That shies away from the sunshine
And is content to miss the breeze.
This life force
Eludes when you seek
Content to carry you through
Your summers, winters and rains.
